This severed hand robot will read your mind and then swipe right to find you love
Meet the True Love Tinder Robot. It will find you love on Tinder. ‘Guaranteed’.
After all, what better way to find the person you’re going to spend the rest of your life with than by using a severed robot hand to interact with a computer app?
And they say romance is dead.
The Love Robot works by ‘reading your true heart’s desire’ via sensors, and then swiping left or right on Tinder for you.
‘Throughout the process,’ promises creator Nicole He, a graduate student in New York University’s Interactive Telecommunications Program, ‘it will make commentary on your involuntary decisions.’
She built the robot as part of her final project. ‘In a time when it’s very normal for couples to meet online, we trust that algorithms on dating sites can find us suitable partners,’ she explains.
‘Simultaneously, we use consumer biometric devices to tell us what’s going on with our bodies and what we should do to be healthy and happy. Maybe it’s not a stretch to consider what happens when we combine these things.’
The fickle severed hand of fate works by reading ‘the change in your galvanic skin response over a period of time’. In other words, it assesses how sweaty your palms get in response to different pictures on the screen.
